Congratulations Corporal Gable!
Our very own Corporal Kyle Gable completed two very prestigious achievements this year! In March, Corporal Gable applied and was certified as a Maryland Traffic Safety Specialist (TSS) Designation I. A Traffic Safety Specialist I is designed to recognize an officer with specialized training relating to highway safety and traffic enforcement methods and procedures. An officer must complete the following Traffic Safety Specialist I requirements to be certified as level I:
Minimum two years of independent patrol/traffic experience
Speed Detection Device Certification
Standardized Field Sobriety Training (SFST) Certification
Documentation of ARIDE Training
Documentation of Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Training
Additionally, in June, Corporal Gable was accepted into and attended the 2025 DUI Institute at the University of Maryland College Park. The DUI Institute is a rigorous 40-hour program that develops leaders in the enforcement of alcohol-impaired driving laws. The award-winning program, created in 2003, was developed by the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s (MVA) Highway Safety Office, the University of Maryland Department of Behavioral and Community Health along with police officers from across the state and national experts in DUI enforcement. Since its inception, nearly 500 officers have graduated from the program.
Corporal Gable is the first ever Crofton Police Department officer to attend the DUI Institute and the first to be TSS certified! Congratulations Corporal Kyle Gable and thank you for bringing your DUI and traffic enforcement skills to Crofton!
