The Crofton Police Department is now accepting applications for Maryland Certified Police Officers who are currently certified or previously certified through the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission (MPCTC).
Certification must be in compliance with current MPCTC guidelines.

Position Overview:

We are seeking professional, experienced, and community-focused officers to join our agency. Applicants should demonstrate integrity, strong work ethic, and a commitment to serving the residents of Crofton.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Starting Salary:

  • $64,661.94 – Officers with less than 8 years of experience

  • $69,927.75 – Officers with 8 or more years of experience (after 90 day performance evaluation)

• Promotional Opportunity:

  • Applicants with 8 or more years of certified law enforcement experience will be promoted to the rank of Corporal after 90 days of satisfactory performance.

Conditions of Employment:

• All applicants will be subject to a one-year probationary period, regardless of experience level.

• Must hold current or prior MPCTC police certification

• Must have separated in good standing from a Maryland law enforcement agency within the last three (3) years

• Chief’s Interview

• Background Investigation

• Polygraph Examination

• Psychological Evaluation

• Medical Examination
