Police Chief’s Report - October 2025

Greetings,

Fall is quickly approaching, and cooler temperatures are here. The Crofton Police

Department is committed to improving community safety. We continue to assist morning

and afternoon school crossings making sure the children in both Elementary Schools

arrive safely and leave safely.

Flock Safety Update

Permitting for five License Plate Readers and Live Video Cameras has been submitted

to the Anne Arundel County Permitting Office. We are at their mercy when issuing

permits but hopefully we will have permitting in place soon. Once permits are in place

we can begin installation. Estimated time frame puts the Flock Safety Program online in

late October barring any unseen circumstances.

Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention Grant

We have applied for a grant to fund the Flock Safety Program for the first year. We

should receive an answer shortly as to whether our request was granted. These funds

would save money while we have the opportunity to investigate the usefulness of the

Flock Safety Program.

Crofton Center

Crofton Center’s Giant and Ace Hardware have been the victim of repeated theft and

shoplifting. We have increased patrols in the area to address these incidents, however it

has yet to make a sizable difference. As soon as our attention is drawn elsewhere by

other calls for service these thefts occur. We may attempt an overtime assignment to

have an officer stationed strictly in the Crofton Center for a few hours should these

thefts continue.

3rd Annual Trunk or Treat

Our Crofton Community is amazing. We already have close to thirty local businesses

and local leaders committed to our event. The event will take place on October 24 th ,

2025, at Village Green from 6pm-8pm. Come on out for Candy, Prizes, and fun for all.

Crofton Police Honored

Sgt. Sims will be receiving the Unsung Hero’s Award from the Anne Arundel County 100

Club on October 10 th , 2025, at their yearly awards ceremony. Please congratulate him if

you see him. Corporal Gable will be receiving the Annual Impaired Driver Law

Enforcement Award on October 18 th , 2025, for his continued efforts enforcing sober

driver within our community. Please congratulate him if you see him.
