Police chief’s report- September 2025

Greetings, we hope you are enjoying the cooler weather, and the taste of Fall is upon us. Our local schools have opened their doors for another school year and my staff has been present in both Crofton Elementary School and Crofton Woods Elementary School welcoming the students back. Traffic has increased in the mornings and afternoons during both opening and closing of school so please plan accordingly.

Crime is the Community

Crofton Center Giant has been the target of several shoplifting and theft incidents where suspects enter the store and load up a shopping cart and proceed to exit the store without paying for their merchandise. We have identified a suspect, and charges are currently pending, however we could use the community’s help in further identifying two other suspects. Please see latest BOLO.

A Silver 2022 Honda Accord was stolen from Parkridge Circle in the overnight hours of August 27, 2025. Vehicle was recovered in the Hyattsville area of Prince Georges County. Please secure your vehicles and remove any valuables.

Challenge Coins

We still have Challenge Coins available for sale. They are $15.00 a piece and can be purchased through the Crofton Civic Association Website. All proceeds go towards other community events we will be hosting in the future.

Flock Safety

We are projected to launch our Flock Safety License Plate Readers in late September or possibly early October. We are awaiting permitting and installation. The License Plate Readers will be strategically placed at five locations within our community at major entrances and exits. The Anne Arundel County Police have reported a major crime reduction crediting the use of the Flock Safety Program, and we are attempting to add another layer of protection to our community. We look forward to reporting our results in the coming months.

3rd Annual Crofton Police Department Trunk or Treat

On October 24th, 2025, from 6-8pm at Village Green the Crofton Police Department along with various local businesses and community leaders will be handing out candy and treats to the community. Please join us for this spooktacular event. If you own a business or would like to participate contact Chief Jett at 410-721-2301 or jjett@croftonpd.com.
