Chief’s Report February 2026

Chief’s Report Types of Call January 2025 Statistics Review – The Crofton Police Department responded to 5,956 calls for service in 2025. That includes 269 traffic stops, responding to 90 traffic accidents, 3,178 patrol checks were conducted, and 87 reports were written. New Parking Signs – If you are not aware, DPW installed new parking restrictions in most of the area from Duke of Kent to Crawford Blvd. There is no parking from 3 pm to 5 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in much of this stretch along the outer loop of Crofton Parkway. This is to prevent long-term parking of recreational vehicles, boat trailers, and abandoned vehicles, and to improve sight lines along Crofton Parkway, which our community has complained about. Overnight Patrol – On January 4th, we began our first overnight patrol. Corporal Gable now works 9 pm until 5 am Sunday through Thursday. Although it has been a little over a month, I can already notice some changes. We have only had one reported theft from an auto during the overnight hours when Corporal Gable was working. I hope the increased visibility during overnight hours has deterred those who wish to commit crimes in our community. Corporal Gable’s efforts also include 3 DUIs, close to 100 traffic stops, and frequent patrol checks in areas where we see theft from auto crime. This was a popular request from the community during the poll questionnaire that was sent out several months ago, and I believe we have answered that request. ~
