Chief’s Report January 2026

Chief’s Report – Greetings and Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. We are looking forward to a prosperous new year in 2026. Flock Safety Update – Unfortunately, we have encountered some delays in getting our Flock Safety System fully operational. We expect to have it operational by mid-January. Some of our delays are caused by locating the equipment in the right locations and ensuring proper solar power at those locations. We are relocating several cameras to achieve this. When operational, the system has proved its value with 65,143 vehicle tags scanned since late November— 206 of those scanned vehicles produced alerts on our Flock Safety System. The alerts were for expired tags, stolen vehicles, and wanted suspects that were detected traveling our roadways. I suspect there will be a substantial increase in these numbers once the system is fully online. Holiday Patrol Operation C.H.E.E.R. – We are happy to report that our holiday patrol detail has proven to be effective. We concentrated patrols in the Crofton Center due to the high volume of thefts and shoplifting. This operation began on November 28th and continued through Christmas. Prior to Operation C.H.E.E.R., we were experiencing numerous theft and shoplifting incidents almost daily. I can say with confidence that our efforts resulted in only one reported theft during our extended coverage patrols. ~ Jason Jett, Chief of Police
